6. Devlog, Week 13: Final Version, Updated after Testing Session

Hello! It is already the final week of this project. Wow, time flies. Anyways, here is what I did to add my final touches.

Title screen:

The game finally got its title screen this week! Now it feels like a real game. I connected a Settings menu to every scene so the player can freely move between levels and restart the current level at any time. This helps the player experience.

Player movement animation correction:

Sometimes, when Luna stood on a cloud, she appeared to be flying instead of grounded. This was an animation mistake and easily solved.

Background correction:

During the testing session, some players seemed to experience the game crashing.  This was mostly due to the background using too many resources. I solved this by keeping the calculations from backing up.

Puzzle:

Since many colleagues mentioned that they thought the puzzle was too harsh in the survey, I decided to simplify the star and cloud puzzle. People were unsure which way the objects in the middle had to face. This is why I gave the cloud puzzle asymmetrical connections and the star got a face. I think it is fitting that way and makes the puzzle easier to solve. About the moon puzzle I did not get any complaints.

Introduction to elements and background story:

From the beginning, I wanted to implement a background story and an introductory level. After getting feedback from my peers, that resolution got stronger, since the overall concept of the game was assumable but not totally clear. Following this I created a story scene where Luna talks directly to the player and takes them on a mission, to find the stolen stars.

This project has been a lot of fun.

Thank you for following my experience! I have enjoyed it a lot and am proud to say that I created my first game.

See ya, Chantal aka Ninny.
